04_Blurred Bounds

The lines between work and life are dissolving. Once upon a time, long ago, folks went to work, punched out at 5, came home and–in their minds–enjoyed life until the next morning. Today, the lines between working and non-working time continue to blur. Flexible work has brought about a great deal of progress, opening the labour market to new groups of previously excluded populations. But by increasingly bringing our work home and our home to work, we also risk suffering from endless interruption, lack of focus, and an inability to fully separate work from life.
